Overhead and Vertical Concrete Patching Mortar

Fibre-Patch OV

One-component, fibre-reinforced, silica-fume-enhanced repair mortar for vertical and overhead concrete repairs without formwork.

Technical basis FIBRE-PATCH OV
  • Formulated for overhead and vertical applications where conventional mortars sag or require formwork.
  • Can build from 6 mm to 100 mm in stated repair conditions.
  • Uses silica fume and fibre reinforcement to support chloride resistance, water resistance, and crack control.

Decision Summary

When to specify Fibre-Patch OV

  • The repair face is overhead or vertical.
  • Formwork would slow down the project or make access difficult.
  • The repair must resist sagging while achieving real section build.

Core Uses

Overhead repair, vertical build, and formwork reduction

Overhead and Vertical Build

FIBRE-PATCH OV is a thixotropic mortar that stays in place on soffits and vertical faces. It is selected when the repair depth is too large for ordinary patching mortar but access makes formwork slow, expensive, or impractical.

Repair Without Formwork

The product allows overhead and vertical concrete repairs up to 100 mm in stated conditions without building formwork, reducing setup time on balconies, beams, tunnel crowns, slab edges, and other difficult repair faces.

Dense Fibre-Reinforced Repair

Silica fume and dispersed fibres reduce permeability and shrinkage cracking risk, helping the repaired section resist water, chlorides, and freeze-thaw exposure after placement.

Comparison Block

How the material changes the specification

Standard Mortars Overhead: Common Limitations

  • Sagging and slumping limit build thickness before the material takes initial set.
  • Temporary formwork slows repairs and can be hard to install in tunnels, soffits, and edges.
  • Porous repairs allow water and chlorides to restart the deterioration cycle.

FIBRE-PATCH OV: Practical Value

  • Thixotropic behavior supports high-build vertical and overhead repair.
  • Simplifies repairs where formwork access is the main constraint.
  • Combines one-component mixing with fibre reinforcement and microsilica durability.

FAQ

Specification questions

Why choose OV instead of GP?

OV is optimized for overhead and vertical repairs where no formwork is desired. GP is a two-component repair mortar suited to broader structural patching and reprofiling.

Can it be placed without formwork?

Yes. Its thixotropic consistency allows high-build vertical and overhead repair when the substrate is correctly prepared.

Is a primer always required?

It depends on the substrate and reinforcement condition. Exposed steel should be protected with Fibre-Prime, and difficult substrates may require a bonding layer.

Why is thixotropy important for overhead repairs?

Thixotropy lets the fresh mortar hold position on soffits and vertical faces instead of sagging before set. That is what allows meaningful section build without formwork in difficult access zones.

Can OV be used for every concrete repair?

No. OV is optimized for vertical and overhead repair geometry. For broader structural repairs, feather-edge work, or polymer-modified patching sequences, GP may be the better fit.
